No matter how good the view, weather or kit walking to the start of your adventure is sometimes such a drag when you could have another hour in bed and a relaxed breakfast in your brimstone suite. Autumn mists often hang around in the Langdale valley bottom but don’t let that put you of heading to the hills. The Lake District offers spectacular and surprising views in all kinds of weather. It was certainly the case on this occasion, when we ventured up to Stickle Tarn. As we climbed higher up Stickle Ghyll, the sun burned through and the views were out of this world! You may not always be this lucky but heading up high will definitely provide you with some great photo/selfie opportunities that will always make the effort worthwhile.
Adventures require effort and effort deserves rewards. What better reward than refuelling with some good pub grub and a cold pint or glass of wine. The Langdale Valley is home to some really great pubs including the wonderful Wainwrights’ Inn, where you can get cosy by the fire while you enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal including smoked specials from the on-site Smokehouse and a great selection of real ales and wines.
