Big Mountain Weekend 2018

4th - 6th May at Sticklebarn

Just down the road from Brimstone at Langdale The Arc’teryx Lakeland Revival held their ‘Big Mountain Weekend’ on 4th - 6th May 2018, and we were there to soak up the atmosphere and have a go. Combining everything great about the great outdoors and packing it all into the iconic Langdale valley, it’s the perfect location for rock climbers, ramblers and the gear savvy to congregate. Organisers teamed up with the likes of DMM, Nikwax and Tenaya to educate, excite and engage with visitors from all around and to showcase the best that they and Langdale has to offer.

The scene couldn’t have been better for a play around in the great outdoors. Fell to fell sunshine mixed with knowledgeable instructors, a great barbecue and an ensemble of talented musicians providing entertainment all weekend.

The Saturday morning started with guided scrambling at the South side of Holme fell, one of Tilberthwaite’s jewels with stunning views off towards Coniston and its adjourning fells.

With masterclasses by some of the UK’s best climbers and instructors on hand to answer all crag-based questions, the afternoon of guided walks and rope techniques proved popular with visitors.
