Only a short distance from the Langdale Estate, Loughrigg Fell is extremely popular all year round with walkers of all abilities yet has enough small paths that one can find solitude, even in the middle of the busy Summer holidays. In the Winter months it provides stunning views of the surrounding fells and valleys that are easily accessible to all.
Breath-taking views of Grasmere, Windermere and the Langdale Valley can be enjoyed all year round when the weather allows. The path to the summit is short and sharp, however ensures a reasonably quick way to take in a full panorama of the Lakeland fells.
Farming in and around Langdale is a full-time job, with Herdwick sheep roaming the fells 365 days a year.
The serene, Sunday walk across Loughrigg terrace is a lazy day treat that continues on to Rydal caves, where 200 years ago it was a working quarry supplying roofing slate to local villages. Then just a short walk beyond to enjoy a relaxing pint in the Badger Bar before walking through to Ambleside for a spot of lunch.
