Just a short walk up the road is Wainwrights' Inn, which is part of the Langdale Estate (you can charge stuff to your account) and also the local pub. Popular with walker’s, climbers and tourists, as well as the locals Wainwrights' offers a great selection of local ales and hearty home cooked food.
Like Stove, the menu features smoked produce from the Langdale Estate Smokehouse which is nestled behind Wainwrights'. With home cooked favourites, and with substantial portions, it’s a real Lakeland pub.
Originally a farmhouse the building has had a varied history also housing a hotel, explosives factory manager’s house and petrol station over the years before becoming a pub.
As with many pubs in the area its busy especially at tea time so get there early if you are hungry or stay out a bit longer and enjoy the quiet after the tea time rush.
Local ales are Garry the landlord’s specialty and along with the regular local favourites line Wainwrights, Cumberland and Sneck Lifter there will be an ever changing offering from local micro-breweries as well as carefully chosen ales from further afield
If your not sure please ask to try before you buy or go for a paddle of three.
