Thing to do

There's plenty to choose from

The Lakes is packed with things to do, places to visit and things to see.

Staying Safe

We ask all visitors to Brimstone to be kind and respectful of fellow visitors, staff and local communities. Some people will choose to continue to use face coverings and socially distance and we will support everyone making that choice; keeping you safe while making sure you have a fabulous break in the Lake District remains our priority.

Tree Felling on the Langdale Estate: Ramorum Disease on Larch

In October 2020 the Langdale Estate was served with a statutory notice from the Forestry Commission to fell 36 Larch trees and remove large areas of rhododendrons because of the presence of the disease phytophthora ramorum – with both species being as infected as the other.  The areas of the estate that fall under this order can be seen in the map below.

As you may be aware the Lake District has for many years endured a deep and ongoing skills crisis caused by the lack of affordable housing, high volume of second homes (80% in this area), poor public transport and ageing and declining population. Since the most recent opening we have seen many hospitality employees throughout the sector not returning to the industry due to lifestyle evaluation and aggressive clientele (not at Brimstone of course). While holidays at home are so popular this creates some challenges for the team at Brimstone.

Stove restaurant will offer a limited drinks service from 12pm to 5pm with tea and coffee which will be complimentary, there will also be chargeable options including bottled soft drinks and a small range of alcoholic beverages, these can be charged to your account. A limited range of snacks will be available from 12pm to 5pm.

Since you are staying in Brimstone you can enjoy food at lunchtime and throughout the afternoon in Brimstone Spa.

Wainwrights’ Inn will be open 12pm - 10pm daily, with food served between 12pm - 2pm and 5pm - 9pm. We recommend you arrive early to avoid disappointment.

We are working very hard on extending our service to you, but we do ask that you have some patience at this time.

Do please contact us if you need any more information or assistance.
